East Stroudsburg University seeks an experienced Access Services Librarian to supervise and coordinate the areas of Circulation, ILL, Stacks Maintenance, Reserves, and Document Delivery in the Kemp Library. This is a full time, nine month, continuing tenure track faculty position within Kemp Library and reports directly to the Library Dean.
Responsibilities: The Access Services Librarian plans, organizes and operates all circulation, ILL, and document delivery functions; coordinates the care, maintenance and purchase of library equipment for public use; serves as technical coordinator for all network, hardware, and software issues as they relate to the online public workstations and printers; directs and evaluates the work of support staff in Access Services; participates in day, evening and weekend reference desk rotation, teaches information literacy sessions and conducts informational tours and workshops; serve as a liaison to several academic departments; and serves on appropriate library and university committees and task forces.
Responsibilities include the following:
Supervise and administer the daily operation of Access Services units, and insure adequate coverage of public service points during the library’s hours of operation;
Engage in short-term and long-range planning for Kemp Library Access Services, develop goals and objectives, and monitor effectiveness;
Determine, interpret, and implement circulation policies and procedures, train and direct the full time staff and part time work study students within the department, and ensure communication of circulation policies to all library patrons, and oversee the library's courtesy borrowing program;
Maintain statistics and reports using a variety of resources as they pertain to circulation and building use, maintain library security control system, maintain circulation functions within the library’s integrated library system (Endeavor Voyager), and oversee stacks maintenance and space utilization;
Oversee the processing and provision of access to print and electronic reserve materials, and communicate the availability of Reserve Services to the campus community;
Monitor, recommend for purchase and maintain equipment for use by patrons such as public photocopiers, microform equipment, and assistive technology and oversee collection of monies from copier equipment in coordination with the business office;
Serve as liaison to the Campus Ecard Office and manage all aspects of the Ecard program as they relate to the library;
Serve as technical coordinator for all network, hardware and software issues as they relate to the online public workstations and printers, serve as liaison to campus Academic Computing and to external technical support personnel for all technical issues related to the OPACs, and oversee the order and monitoring of all supplies for the library's public equipment (toner, paper, etc);
Develop and implement policies and procedures and set goals and objectives for ILL and other cooperative resource sharing initiatives and document delivery services, oversee all aspects of those services, and train and direct ILL assistant(s) and work study students;
Collect statistics and develop reports to evaluate ILL and document delivery services, and promote those services to the university community;
Provide general reference service on nights, weekends, and weekdays at the Main Reference Desk in rotation with other Library Faculty and teach in the overall information literacy program of the library;
Meet all other criteria for tenure as stated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA);
Other duties as assigned by the Library Dean.
Required Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS; minimum two years supervisory experience; demonstrated experience working in an automated environment with circulation and reserve materials; ILL and/or document delivery experience in an automated environment; working knowledge of emerging technologies in Access Services; experience troubleshooting PC hardware, peripherals, windows-based software, networking, internet and other library technology; a commitment to public service; excellent oral, written, and organizational skills. The candidates should also demonstrate potential for scholarly activities and meeting student needs.
Preferred Qualifications: Academic Library experience; experience working with the Endeavor Voyager System; working knowledge of Ariel and other scanning and imaging systems; demonstrated ability to work within a consultative team environment where collaboration and cooperation are essential; Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Work experience with diverse populations.
