Assistant Professor, Latin American History

Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts


Eugene Lang College and The New School for Social Research invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in modern Latin American History to begin in August 2010. Area is open. Possible thematic emphases include, but are not limited to, political history expansively defined, empire and postcolonialism, social movements, market culture, gender, sexuality, family and affect, knowledge and technology, natural/built environments and space. Transregional or transnational approaches are particularly welcome.

Requirements:
- PhD in appropriate field
- A strong record of scholarly research and significant college teaching experience

We seek candidates who can help develop emerging undergraduate and graduate programs based on theoretically informed and critical approaches to historical inquiry. The review of applications will begin on December 1, 2009, and we will review applications until the position is filled.
