Notes: This is a full-time, career position. Schedule of hours is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Overtime, travel and travel outside of normal business hours may be required. The budgeted monthly starting salary range for this position is $3,346 - $4,863.

Effective September 1, 2009, the University of California, Riverside has implemented a one-year Furlough/Salary Reduction Plan due to the state budget crisis. Under the plan, this position’s work time will be reduced by a specified number of days according to the salary for this position, with a commensurate reduction in pay evenly distributed over a 12-month period. Essential Functions: The Business Systems Analyst provides technology, data analysis and systems support for AVC/Dean of Students organizational unit departments (AVC/Dean of Students, African Student Programs, Asian Pacific Student Programs, Chicano Student Programs, Counseling Center, International Education Center, LGBT Resource Center, Native American Student Programs, Student Conduct and Academic Integrity Programs, Student Life, Student Special Services, Wellness Initiatives, Student Recreation Center and the Women’s Resource Center).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: project management associated with major programs and events; desktop, in house software, third party software and technology training and support; development and maintenance of online presences (websites, online calendar, student portal).

Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration, economics, statistics, educational administration, political science, or an allied field, and two years of experience in administrative analysis, operations research, project management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Skill in evaluating and analyzing complex concepts or knowledge of past discrepancies, trends, and relationships, and applying the concepts appropriately.
• Skill in preparing comprehensive and in-depth analysis of complex, sensitive, and multi-faceted issues, particularly under tight time constraints.
• Skill in developing a vision or image of how a system/process should operate under ideal circumstances.
• Skill in exporting/importing data from or to different software applications or data collection and retrieval.
• Demonstrated professional communication skills and clear expression of ideas through tact, diplomacy, and the appropriate and convincing use of language.
• Demonstrated skill in identifying the correct issues to be communicated, the appropriate audience, the method of communication, and the timing of the communication.
• Skill in writing memos, reports, and training documentation target for a large range of audiences using appropriate formats, presentation styles, grammar, spelling, and composition.
• Skill in organizing tasks, documents and materials with efficiency and accuracy.
• Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction.
• Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.
• Skill in setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.
• Familiarity with PC based desktop applications, including spreadsheet and database programs such as Word, Access, Excel, etcetera.
• Proven ability to write technical documentation and training material for a variety of audiences.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a strong service environment that is subject to constantly changing priorities.
• Hired applicant must successfully pass a background check through the Department of Justice.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of University and Student Affairs Dept. operations, methods and business practices.
