The Bilingual Education Specialist works with the Head Start program, providing outreach to students, teachers and parents at Head Start Centers as well as at onsite programs. S/he must develop, teach and evaluate multidisciplinary programs for Pre K-12th grade school groups visiting the aquarium.
This specialist must create programs which emphasize high levels of learner participation, allow for diverse needs of learners and accommodate the learning styles and conservation readiness of very young children as well as adults.
This position requires a BS or BA with course work or practical experience in natural science, education and curriculum design. At least two years experience teaching and developing curriculum are also required. Oral and written fluency in Spanish and English and creative and effective public speaking skills are a must. S/he must have the flexibility to work week days as well as some evenings and weekends. A valid driver’s license is also required.
Salary based on DOE.
