The Business Systems Analyst III is responsible for defining and documenting business systems requirements and ensuring technology solutions enhance and support the business operations. Specifically, the BSA III elicits, analyzes, communicates and validates requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems. This person also investigates technology alternatives, and recommends system solutions; actively participates in all phases of the systems development life cycle; and establishes collaborative and effective partnerships with key business representatives. The BSA III is the primary liaison between the business and technical staff.
Key Functions/Responsibilities:
•Leads workgroup sessions, applies business experience and analytical skills to define recommendations and improve processes.
•Works with business users to document and, define business requirements, perform analysis and provide recommendations for new systems or improvements and redesign of current systems.
•Documents functional specifications for system solutions and enhancements to existing systems.
•Evaluates technology alternatives, interviews vendors, selects technology, and develops recommendations for system solutions that ensures appropriate integration with the technical architecture.
•Participates in all stages of the systems development life cycle, may take full responsibility for the requirements, testing and deployment of system solutions.
•May manage vendor relationships.
•Leads, mentors and coaches more junior Business Systems Analysts.
Education & Experience:
Required:
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent combination of training and experience.
•6+ years progressively responsible business and information systems knowledge.
•Experience in managed healthcare or insurance operations.
•Experience with relational data base concepts, as well as experience testing and implementing third party applications and tools.
Preferred/Desirable:
•BA Certificate.
•BA Master Certificate.
•CBAP Certification.
•Master’s Degree Computer Science, Management Information Systems.
Competencies, Skills, and Attributes:
•Working knowledge of MS tools, including MS Office products (Access, Project, Visio) SQL, and reporting tools such as Crystal Reports and ReportNet.
•Knowledge of all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle required, with advanced skill and experience in the requirements, specification, testing and implementation phases.
•Must be able to utilize analytic skills to conceptualize and envision the impact of change, and propose new ways to do business.
•Must have strong communications and interpersonal skills with an ability to lead and direct others in a cross-functional organization.
•Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, problem-solve and identify and use appropriate technology to solve business problems.
