DESCRIPTION:

Incumbent will work in a new program called the UCSD Bridge to Recovery funded through the County of San Diego Prevention, Education and Early intervention (PEI) initiative as part of the Proposition 63 Mental Health Services Act.
The program will be operated through the UCSD Department of Psychiatry and UCSD Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment and Research Program. Under close supervision, Clinical Social Workers will work as counselors and case managers in the UCSD Bridge to Recovery Program in the Department of Psychiatry.
Duties will include provision of services at two sites; 1)screening for substance abuse problems, brief motivational interventions, psychoeducation for clients and families; and linkage to community services for transitional age youth (18-24), adults and older adults (55+) with high level substance abuse problems and mental health needs who seek services at the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital (SDCPH) Crisis Recovery Unit, Emergency Psychiatric Unit and Crisis-Walk-in Clinic and 2)biopsychosocial assessments, assessment of high risk behaviors, crisis intervention and brief treatment services and intensive case management to individuals referred from the SDCPH who are in need of intensive stabilization delivered at the UCSD Co-Occurring Disorders Program. Staff will work closely with SDCPH hospital staff in the delivery of services and work as a team with peer recovery specialists. The incumbent will also maintain records; participate in program evaluation and research; provide consultation to and maintain liaison with community programs; and provide teaching, consultation and in-service training to students, staff and law enforcement personnel.

~~Must be willing and able to work at two program sites and to work until 6pm, weekends and some holidays.
~~Must have access to reliable transportation to transport clients to needed services and meet clients at various community locations throughout the County to provide case management services.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Masters degree in social work, or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
* Bilingual/bicultural English/Spanish required.
* Minimum of one year of experience working with clients with substance abuse and other mental disorders.
* Understanding of theories of etiology and treatment for clients with co-occurring disorders.
* Demonstrated ability and experience in providing case management and rehabilitative services and knowledge of community resources.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with mental health and alcohol/drug and other human service providers .
* Ability to use computer information systems, computer literacy, and knowledge of word processing.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
* Bilingual/bicultural English/Spanish required.
* Must pass background check, pre-employment physical and TB test.
* Must have a valid California Driver’s License, with a clean driving record for the past 7 years.
