The Customer Service Program is a stand-alone program designed to teach the skills necessary for someone to work in the area of customer service in medical, business, and retail jobs. The curriculum has been predetermined, but variations may occur as the community need is better identified. This is a grant funded position for the period of one year.
Position: Customer Service Instructor
One Part-time Only position available (maximum 19 hours per week)
Minimum Qualifications: Interviews will only be extended to applicants who meet the minimum qualifications. The following are the minimum qualifications required for this position:
• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Ability to document three (3) years of directly related work experience, including teaching or training experience in business, business education, occupational education, and/or a related field
• Experience in customer service
• Experience in computer-based instruction
• Experience in business writing
• Experience in curriculum development.
• Effective oral and written communication skills; proficiency in the English language.
• Proficient use of the Microsoft Office suite with the ability to teach Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications: Following are preferred qualifications for this position:
• Degree concentration in the area of business, business education, occupational education, or a related field
• Teaching experience at the middle or high school level
• Experience in individualized, self-paced instruction
• Experience in a call center environment
• Should be comfortable using a Web browser (i.e., Internet Explorer).
Duties & Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Teach classes as assigned.
2. Organize and supervise students in classroom settings.
3. Teach an established curriculum which includes modules in Computer Skills, Customer Service, and Business Writing.
4. Adhere to a predetermined timeline for teaching curriculum.
5. Assist participants with job placement at the conclusion of the instruction.
6. Participate in the preparation of course materials in conjunction with grant guidelines.
7. Follow up with participants regarding job placement and workplace success for reporting purposes.
8. Recruit students for the program.
9. Utilize technology in the instructional process.
10. Maintain appropriate records as required by the grant.
11. Attend grant-related training and meetings as required by the grant or dean.
12. Maintain appropriate work hours as assigned by supervisor or dean.
13. Represent the institution in a positive manner.
14. Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary: This is a part-time only position. Pay for this part-time position will be $30.00 per hour, with no benefits available. Time worked per week will not exceed nineteen (19) hours.
Anticipated Begin Date: December 1, 2009, or as negotiated.

Interview Process: The Recruitment and Selection Committee will screen all applicants for the position and may interview selected, fully qualified applicants by telephone. The Committee will then select applicants for in-person interviews which may consist of the following activities: question/answer session, written assignment, teaching lesson, and/or skills assessments. Upon completion of the in-person interviews, the Committee may recommend finalists for the position to the dean and/or the President, after which final employment decisions will be made.
Additional Information:
The College reserves the right to fill the position within one year of the stated anticipated starting date or not to fill the position due to budgetary or operational considerations. The College will not incur the cost of applicants’ interview

An offer of employment is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal background investigation.
