The Deputy Assistant Commandant for Intelligence and Criminal Investigations, in conjunction with the Assistant Commandant, manages the Coast Guard's intelligence and criminal investigations programs. In this capacity, the Deputy implements the process to source and screen proposed enterprise solutions, internal and external, including new systems, technologies, and strategies for improving intelligence efforts and their effectiveness; assures their consistent and equitable application throughout the service and interoperability within the Department of Homeland Security and the Intelligence Community. Serves as the strategic planning coordinator to decide, prioritize and direct the Directorate's capabilities to align with actual and anticipated USCG, Agency, Intelligence Community, executive branch, and other federal agency requirements.
The Deputy directs and leads staff in the design and implementation of policies, regulations, and procedures for conducting criminal law enforcement, counter-intelligence, analytical activity, cyber security, and ensures alignment of those activities with operational requirements, agency guidance and executive branch initiatives and direction.
The Deputy represents the USCG in national and international programs and/or coalitions to share information, engage in special projects, and/or develop strategies to address national intelligence and/or law enforcement requirements; collaborates with other Federal agencies, to coordinate and facilitate intelligence enterprise requirements for both national security and law enforcement intelligence programs; and advocates USCG positions on policy negotiations and decision-making.
