Responsibilities
The College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University has an opening for a Director of College Human Resources. The Director will report directly to the Associate Dean for Administration, Planning & Special Projects and will work closely with Northeastern University's Human Resource Management office to provide comprehensive human resources to all College employees. The successful, qualified individual provides leadership to foster a professional workplace environment and will be responsible for planning, managing and coordinating all human resources systems and services within the College, including recruitment, training and orientation, performance management, employee relations, policies and procedures, and general human resources operations. This is a hands-on, senior generalist position.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing, organizing, developing and managing all personnel functions for the College, including the contract processes for all faculty (full-time and part-time) and administrative/professional staff.
- Ensuring that institutional human resources policies are implemented consistently and in accordance with federal and state laws.
- Counseling administrators and employees on human resources policies and rules, identifying and resolving problems or recommending appropriate courses of action. Establishing credibility throughout the college as an effective listener and problem solver of issues.
- Serving as College liaison for all personnel issues and processes and maintaining a strong collaborative working relationship with the University's central Human Resources Management office.
- Developing and delivering new employee orientation as well as ongoing orientations in order to develop an understanding for and appreciation of the mission of the College.
- Developing and delivering training programs for the College related to personnel and procedural matters.
- Developing new systems and integrating new technology for reporting and tracking faculty and staff and ensuring the accuracy of employee data in centralized systems.
- Overseeing recruitment efforts for all faculty and staff positions.
- Overseeing personnel record keeping related to new hires, employee appraisals, promotions, transfers, separations and exit interviews; as well as revisions associated with job descriptions.
- Monitoring visa and funding expirations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean.

Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources management, or a related field required; a Master's degree in Human Resource Management or a related field preferred. A minimum of eight years' relevant full time, professional human resources management experience, including a minimum of three years of supervisory experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate success in providing professional advice on human resources matters and show a track record of good judgment. S/he also must possess well-developed skills in leadership, political acumen and consensus building and demonstrate a commitment to excellence, high ethical standards, and the maintenance of confidentiality. Excellent project management skills required, including successful leadership of projects from planning phase through completion. Superior communication skills required, with demonstrated skills in written and oral communication and the ability to make effective presentations to groups. Candidate must also be able to work accurately and effectively with financial data and computerized systems. Knowledge of PeopleSoft a plus.
