Notes: This is a full-time, career position. Schedule of hours is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Effective September 1, 2009, the University of California, Riverside has implemented a one-year Furlough/Salary Reduction Plan due to the state budget crisis. Under the plan, this position’s work time will be reduced by a specified number of days according to the salary for this position, with a commensurate reduction in pay evenly distributed over a 12-month period. http://budget.ucr.edu). Essential Functions: The Foundation Accounting Assistant assists the accounting function of the UC Riverside Foundation. This position provides general analytical and business operations support to the Finance and Administration unit of the University Advancement division.
This position works under the general direction of the Associate Director for University Advancement Finance and Administration.
Minimum Requirements:
• Demonstrated progressively responsible accounting experience including financial and statistical analysis using spreadsheet and Windows based software applications.
• Demonstrated experience in researching technical issues and preparing recommendations based on the outcome of the research.
• Demonstrated experience as a team player in the organization.
• Skill in accurate record keeping with strict attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for a diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with general supervision.
• Ability to interpret and effectively articulate complex policies and procedures, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Hired applicant must successfully pass a background check through the Department of Justice.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Demonstrated experience in accounting for non-profit organizations and governmental units, including fund accounting and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and governmental accounting standards, IRS regulations related to gift transactions.
• Demonstrated experience with maintenance of automated accounting systems.
• Demonstrated experience with relational databases.
• Demonstrated experience with UCR financial systems, and UC policy and procedures.
