Job Description

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Evidence of successful men’s soccer coaching and a recruitment of physically and academically gifted student/athletes at a four year collegiate level is highly preferred. Preferences given for an advanced degree with experience; experience of at least three years coaching men’s soccer in a NCAA Division I or II collegiate setting; comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. The successful candidate will organize and administer all aspects of the men’s soccer program in accordance with the rules and regulations governing a NCAA Division II program. This will include but will not be limited to: coaching, recruitment of qualified student-athletes with a commitment to academic success, yearly scheduling of games, conditioning, budget preparation, fundraising and other related duties as assigned by the athletic administration. Evening and weekend work is required as well as traveling with and supervising the men’s soccer team during scheduled away competitions. The position is a full-time, 12-month position with benefits and reports to the Director of Athletics.
The men’s soccer program will be competing as a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference and the NCAA Division II.
UIS Athletics has recently moved into a new 16.2 million dollar Recreation and Athletic Center as well as currently going through their Provisional Year membership of becoming an NCAA Division II member. UIS is located in Springfield, Illinois which is the capital city of the State of Illinois and has a population of approximately 120,000. Springfield is located in central Illinois approximately 2 and a half hours south of Chicago and 1 and a half hour northeast of St. Louis, Missouri.
