Position Title: Instructional Designer/Computer-Assisted Instructed Specialist
Primary Function:
1. Assist in implementing the mission and goals of the Center for Online Learning, Research and Service.
2. Collaborate with COLRS team and faculty members on the development of instructional sites.
3. Provide technological and pedagogical support to faculty members in designing and implementing technology-enhanced courses.
4. Use advanced applications and programs to support online learning.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in meeting the mission and goals of the unit
• Conduct faculty training and development workshops
• Respond to requests for information and assistance
• In cooperation with other units, assist in developing code or maintaining applications useful/critical to online initiatives. Maintain websites
• Recommend university policies and programs related to online learning
• Respond to user needs in accessing COLRS delivered course materials
• Participate in conceptualization and creation process for online courses
• Design, create and manage graphics, web sites, cascading style sheets, web-based video, multimedia, social networking sites, social media, virtual learning environments, and other advanced web-based technologies.
• Create and maintain web-based media and graphic support for COLRS conferences and continuing education – online, on campus, and at distant locations.
• Provide technical and pedagogical support for grants, contracts, events, continuing education, and conferences of COLRS.
Qualifications/Minimum Education and Work Experience:
Baccalaureate in any field; experience in designing and developing materials for the Internet; operating knowledge of advanced HTML and course delivery platforms; experience in support of faculty members in the delivery of online courses; strong and current experience in web-enhancing applications and processes; excellent communication, mentoring and interpersonal skills; highly literate, communicative, client-friendly, team-oriented and flexible. Possess skill at handling simultaneous projects and initiatives; demonstrated creativity and innovation.
Qualifications Preferred:
Masters degree in relevant field; workshop presentation, training and teaching experience; instructional design experience in adult education; experience in image and video editing; developing and maintaining virtual world environments and simulations in Second Life; facility with both PC and Mac platforms.
