POSITION: Library Catalog Services Specialist DEADLINE EXTENDED

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required
• Minimum of three (3) years of college or university library experience in cataloging required
• Minimum of one (1) year of college or university library project management skills for organization, analysis, troubleshooting, and communication required
• Minimum of one (1) year of concentrated, hands-on, progressively responsible experience in automated, integrated library systems and information technology required
• Demonstrated ability and experience in providing user training (individual and group instruction) required
• Experience in using automated, integrated library system designed for college or university libraries required
• Experience with Innovative Interfaces Millennium system in academic library setting preferred
• Specialized technical skills in use of OCLC/Lyrasis (formerly SOLINET) procedures and equipment; knowledge of MARC metadata forms, bibliographic and authority records, general database structure preferred
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• To manage selected components of the library’s electronic system, including but not limited to cataloging, authority control, coding of item types and statistical classes; and to prepare related cataloging reports
• To supervise all technical processing and physical preparation and repair of books for shelving
• To acquire cataloging (directly or indirectly) for books and other library resources via specialized OCLC/Lyrasis procedures and equipment and to maintain the library catalog, including inventory of library holdings and catalog revisions as necessary
• In cooperation with other members of the department, to organize and provide training for library faculty and staff for cataloging and inventory functions
• To develop, when necessary, documentation and guides to assist faculty, staff, and students with use of catalog resources
• To assist the Director of Library Services in the development of formal and informal long and short-range plans for the use of computer-related library and research technologies
• To maintain current knowledge of developments in the library and information field with special emphasis on automation and technology and the applications locally
• To maintain good working relationships with administrative and academic computing departments on campus
• To participate in system training, either on campus or at out-of-town training sites as needed
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

4. Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) training
5. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Library Services
6. Demonstrate oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all campus constituencies
SALARY: Salary Schedule E3, Grade 5, Range $28,032-$41,434
