Mathematics Instructor
QUALIFICATIONS: The following are the minimum qualifications for this position:
1. A minimum of a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in mathematics from an accredited institution is required.
2. Demonstrated expertise in the subject area is required.
3. Competency in the use of current educational technologies in the classroom is required.
4. Understanding of basic computer skills is required.
5. Experience in teaching mathematics courses at the community college level is preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Instructor must teach mathematics courses; counsel and advise students; sponsor student organizations; participate in college and departmental committee work; submit required reports on attendance and grades; and assist in registration.
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
1. Organize, instruct, and supervise students in the classroom as assigned.
2. Prepare course syllabi and learning outcomes in conjunction with departmental guidelines.
3. Participate in the selection of texts and teaching materials for mathematics courses.
4. Serve as academic advisor for students as assigned. Participate in early registration, regular registration, and schedule adjustment.
5. Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies.
6. Participate in the College’s planning process.
7. Serve on institutional committees.
8. Assist in the development, evaluation, and revision of program curricula to insure maximum student competency.
9. Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College.
10. Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education.
11. Recruit students for the program and College at large.
12. Agree to teach day and evening classes, on and/or off-campus.
13. Have knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Northeast Alabama Community College.
14. Comply with policies of the State Board of Education, the Department of Postsecondary Education, and the College.
15. Represent the College and its philosophy to prospective students and to others in the community.
16. Collect and maintain performance data for reporting purposes.
17. Other duties as assigned.
SALARY: Range of $34,414 to $74,454 based upon the State Board of Education Salary Schedule D-1
to be determined by the applicant’s education and years of applicable experience. This is a
nine-month position with summer teaching availability dependent upon the needs of the
college.

INTERVIEW PROCESS: The Recruitment and Selection Committee will screen all applicants for the position and then select applicants for in-person interviews. Upon completion of the in-person interviews, the Committee will recommend three finalists for the position in alphabetical order to the College President.
