The New School

The eight schools that make up The New School are: The New School for General Studies, The New School for Social Research, Milano The New School for Management and Urban Policy, Parsons The New School for Design, Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts, Mannes College The New School for Music, The New School for Drama, and The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.
The New School seeks a part-time physician for its Medical Services. The physician reports to the Director of Medical Services. This position is currently vacant, and resumes will be accepted until the position is filled.
Responsibilities:
• Provides medical care to New School students for acute, episodic illness.
• Provides women's health care, including acute and routine GYN care and family planning.
• Manages chronic illness within the limits of the Medical Services operation.
• Provides physical assessment to students for various needs.
• Provides referral to counseling services, hospital facilities as appropriate.
• Orders x-rays, scans, and other imaging as appropriate.
• Participates in departmental meetings, quality assurance programs and peer review.
• Maintains appropriate charts on patients for Medical Services chart review.
• Accepts administrative role as assigned, but particularly in areas of service & facility maintenance, student concerns, personal issues, and reporting.
Requirements:
• Board certification and New York State licensure as a family practice physician or internist.
• Five years experience or equivalent.
• Experience with administrative role preferred.
• Experience with college age population preferred.
• Will also consider strong Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner applicants.
**Wed 9-12, Thurs 1-6, Fri 9-12 -- preferred hours
