Notes: This is a full-time, career position. Schedule of hours is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The budgeted monthly starting salary range for this position is $5,461 - $6,471.
Effective September 1, 2009, the University of California, Riverside has implemented a one-year Furlough/Salary Reduction Plan due to the state budget crisis. Under the plan, this position’s work time will be reduced by a specified number of days according to the salary for this position, with a commensurate reduction in pay evenly distributed over a 12-month period. http://budget.ucr.edu). Essential Functions: The Manager of Product Services helps guide the portfolio and direction of a third party vendor system functionality for the division. This position has responsibility for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects that serve prospective students, current students, and student affairs staff. This position is also responsible for leading the department's third party technology support team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment, and cultivating strong relationships with client departments and VCSA executive management.
The Product Services Manager also leads the implementation of technology solutions such as document management systems, CRM systems, access control/point of sale hardware and backend systems, and various Microsoft platform technologies (SQL Reporting Services, PerformancePoint, Live Communications Server, etc.). Other areas of responsibility include the development and implementation of end-user training programs, and IT consulting with VCSA departments to identify appropriate technology solutions to emerging business needs. This individual effectively guides and mentors others who are less skilled in technical areas, and is also hands-on in technical tasks required to support the delivery of technology services.
This position works under the general direction of the Director of Technology Services.
Minimum Requirements:
• Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a computer science or information systems related field.
• Experience with Microsoft server operating systems and virtualization technologies.
• Experience in leading vendor implementation projects.
• Experience with network systems and protocols.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL relational databases.
• Experience leading teams of IT professionals.
• Experience with a range of Microsoft programming technologies.
• Skill in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues, and establishing rapport and the trust of others.
• Demonstrated innovative, strategic and creative thinking skills.
• Skill in developing a vision or image of how a system/process should operate under ideal circumstances.
• Skill in working independently to organize tasks, documents and materials with efficiency and accuracy, and following through on assignments with minimal direction.

• Experience with maintaining simple or moderately complex Microsoft SQL databases through data entry, data queries, and database design modifications.
• Skill in reading and understanding scientific and technical documents such as scientific publications, legislative and regulatory documents, and complex instructional procedures.
• Skill to independently compose letters, memos, reports, and other written communication materials, for a variety of audiences, using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, composition, text editing, and proofreading skills.
• Demonstrated skill in expressing ideas clearly and convincingly in oral presentations and written communications.
• Superior communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate using tact and diplomacy with internal and external campus community.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Education and/or experience equivalent to a Master's degree in a computer science related field.
• Experience implementing and managing Microsoft products and technologies.
• Experience in managing moderately complex computer operation centers.
• Experience with optical imaging systems.
• Knowledge of the applicable UC policies and procedures governing areas related to the responsibilities of the job.
