SR. DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT (AA III)

Notes: This is a full-time, career position. Schedule of hours is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Overtime/CTO - Some evenings and weekends required. Must be able to bend, stoop and lift 30 pounds without assistance.

Effective September 1, 2009, the University of California, Riverside has implemented a one-year Furlough/Salary Reduction Plan due to the state budget crisis. Under the plan, this position’s work time will be reduced by a specified number of days according to the salary for this position, with a commensurate reduction in pay evenly distributed over a 12-month period. Essential Functions: The Athletics Development Office cultivates donors and performs fundraising activities to support the UCR Athletics Program (consisting of 17 men's and women's sports), and its student athletes.

The Senior Development Assistant provides high-level administrative support to the Associate Athletics Director for Development, and the Director for Annual Giving and Events.

This position is the front-line point of contact for UC Riverside’s Athletics Development. The Sr. Development Assistant provides assistance and support in implementing programs and events, donor relations and fundraising efforts. In addition, this position tracks donor gifts, performs accounting and reconciliation, maintains a donor database, handles communications with donors, assists in prospect research, keeps website content current, coordinates travel and schedules calendars and meetings.

Minimum Requirements:
• Demonstrated progressively responsible administrative support experience
• Experience utilizing databases to record information and generate reports; and operating knowledge of Internet for data gathering purposes.
• Experience with coordinating schedules and calendars and making travel arrangements.
• Experience with low value purchase process and related internal controls at the department level and with automated purchasing systems.
• Experience with cash handling, balancing, and preparing deposits.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills; ability to establish professional relationships with and interact effectively and professionally communicate using tact, diplomacy and persuasion with diverse constituencies.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent writing skills to independently write concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical or narrative reports, correspondence, or proposals.
• Demonstrated skill in drafting letters, memos and reports for signature or review by supervisor, using correct punctuation, composition, text editing and formatting and proofreading skills.
• Strong computer proficiency to create documents, spreadsheets, and reports using Word, Access, Excel, or other software applications.
• Excellent math skills and attention to detail.
• Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction, and setting priorities under the pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and competing priorities and requirements.
• Skill in maintaining confidentiality of information, records, and correspondence with judgment and discretion.
• Demonstrated skills in making appropriate job decisions, following established policies and past practices.
• Must be able to move 30 pounds.
• Hired applicant must possess a valid California Driver's License; must successfully pass a background check through the Department of Justice.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated extensive and progressively responsible administrative support experience.
• College-level coursework in a related area.
