STAFF RESEARCH ASSOC IV (PT)

Notes: This is a part-time, 25% variable position. This is a limited appointment without possibility of becoming career.
Essential Functions: Under general direction of Principal Investigator, this position supervises the maintenance of eye gnat culture and laboratory tests on biological and chemical control agents.
Minimum Requirements:
• Education and/or experience equivalent to college level coursework in the Natural Sciences.
• Experience in collaborating with researchers in experimental design, data interpretation and strategic planning of projects involving eye gnat research.
• Experience collecting material and preparing specimens for analysis.
• Experience communicating results of research to affiliated agencies.
• Knowledge of and experience in successfully rearing insect colonies for research.
• Knowledge of computer use, software, record-keeping, data analysis, and preparation of graphics for presentations and publications.
• Ability to effectively supervise laboratory and field research staff and manage laboratory operations.
• Ability to independently review professional literature regarding eye gnat culture to design appropriate research methodologies, techniques and procedures.
• Proven ability to work independently on research tasks.
• Ability to develop and/or improve data gathering tools and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Education and/or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Entomology or a related field.
• Experience in analyzing, interpreting and communicating statistical data results.
