RESPONSIBILITIES
The Sr. Manager of Specialty Product Development will be responsible for the creation, development, and pilot implementation of new product initiatives. The person will likely be managing 3-5 concurrent product development initiatives on new, existing and line extension products. In doing so, this position will be leading and coordinating large cross-functional teams.
The person is required to follow established project principles and procedures to ensure that all the elements of a project are identified, coordinated, executed and delivered within the project scope. They will also be responsible for ensuring timely development, completion, distribution and storage of all project information and documentation. Identifies and analyzes potential risks that may affect the project.
The individual may also be working closely with pilot clients with whom we may co-develop some of these new initiatives. To be successful, this person will require a unique combination of marketing, business case development, financial analysis and management, product development, customer/market insight understanding and ability to interact with Internal Senior management and client contacts.
Essential Functions Include:
- Identify unmet and over served customer needs
- Develop new product or product enhancement ideas/ concepts / strategies that help differentiate Express Scripts in the marketplace and align our interests with those of our clients and their members
- Coordinate cross-functionally to identify and evaluate new ideas. This includes creation of detailed business cases and requirements and working with Operations and Technology to determine feasibility and impact.
- Implement innovative business ideas through leading and coordinating large cross-functional teams focused on delivering bottom-line results. Be responsible for ensuring timely development, completion, distribution and storage of all project information and documentation.
- Develop and execute on marketing and communication plan relative to product. This includes training and deployment and both internal and external presentations and documentation
- Track pilot results and make recommendations for revise, kill, grow decisions
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree or related field, or significant PBM and specialty drug management experience; MBA preferred
Minimum 8 years experience with 2 to 3 years of significant product management and cross-functional experience
Experience working cross-functionally to coordinate plans and execute against timelines and budgets
Negotiation with and management of external vendors
Business case development with the ability to perform NPV, ROIC and income statement analysis
Excellent communication and reporting skills, including executive level presentations
Strong Client presence and experience conducting client presentations
Demonstrated ability to manage others – both direct and indirect reports
Knowledge of PBM or Healthcare industry preferred
Understanding of innovative product development methods including disruptive innovation and customer jobs and outcomes analysis
Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies desired
