Responsibilities:
-Counsel students on federal, state and institutional financial aid (including loan options).
-Calculate financial need and construct financial aid packages
-Perform verification of applicant data
-Review petitions for special circumstances
-Provide consistent and accurate advice about financing options including financial aid processing as wekk as monthly payment plans, billing, refunds, and tuition, fee and housing charges.
-Participate in university workshops and open houses
-Reconcile student aid funds
-Handle special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
1-3 years financial aid counseling or customer/student service experience.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Professional, congenial and polite demeanor.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with personal computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must not be in default on a federal student loan or owe a repayment of a federal grant.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Financial aid and/or accounting background
Previous employment in a higher education setting
Experience with SunGard/SCT Banner student information system
